Oversized Motorised Roller Door – Ipswich

A very large opening, corosive materials, and a motorised door capable of taking a beating? Not a problem.

A large opening approximately ten metres high and five metres wide to a bulk salt storage room needed a door that could take a few knocks and resist the corrosive properties of salt. While the door had to be motorised, the extra expense of rapid opening wasn’t required.

The problem was solved using a combination of features from different products. A hot dipped galvanised spring tension drum was manufactured similar to one used for a large roller shutter slat door. The rip stop PVC fabric curtain was made similar to those used for high speed doors. Special leg units were designed and fabricated to allow aluminium tracks with frictionless wear strips inserted inside to be fixed down the opening. A motor unit was sourced to suit the specifications and also provide emergency manual operation in the event of a power failure.
